These photographs were made during a research visit to Saudi Arabia, and reflect an interest in how cities are shaped by processes of transformation, development, and everyday occupation.

Shot with a lomography camera, these images attend to the spaces through which urban change becomes visible: pedestrian streets, construction sites, waterfront infrastructure, and transitional landscapes. Together, they document a city negotiating multiple temporalities, where historical forms, contemporary ambitions, and future visions coexist within the same urban environment.

The photographs emerged alongside a research process concerned with understanding place through observation and movement. They function as visual field notes, recording encounters with the material conditions of a rapidly changing city. Architecture becomes a record of economic aspiration, public space reveals patterns of use and circulation, and moments of stillness expose the infrastructures that underpin urban life.

Viewed collectively, the images explore how cities are continuously remade through development, migration, commerce, and everyday practice. They invite reflection on what becomes visible during periods of transformation and what remains hidden beneath narratives of progress and growth.
