21 Artists Artwork- London's East End
This project, titled Include Us In, was made in collaboration with the local community in Canning Town as part of the third 21 Artists project in London's East End included in an exhibition during London's first light night. All of the portraits depicted are of local business owners who represent the heart of the community but are often overlooked as key pillars of those invested in the local area.
This project sought to celebrate these people through gathering their stories, taking their portraits and then creating larger-than-life portraits of them displayed in the final exhibition. This project also aimed to help local people find relevance in an art project in their area which are notorious for not including them or finding it difficult to relate to them. Many attended the project space for the first time to see their portraits and be a part of the final celebration.
